BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Women's Basketball moves over the .500 mark in The Commonwealth Coast Conference with a 56-45 win over Colby-Sawyer College Saturday afternoon.
 
Defense played a large role for both teams, as Colby-Sawyer shot just 32% from the field and Roger Williams 29% in the game. The two squads combined for 21 steals and nine blocks.
 
Despite the Chargers outshooting the Hawks 41% to 28% in the first half, the Hawks still held a 30-19 lead entering the second half, thanks to five three-pointers in the period. Karen Ewanowski (Middletown, Conn.) was responsible for four of those five treys in the half.
 
Though the Hawks' shooting from the perimeter cooled off in the second half, RWU was able to stall Colby-Sawyer's offense, holding the Chargers to 25% shooting from the field in the period.
 
Ewanowski, Casey Anderson (Cohasset, Mass.), and Jackie Criss (Westwood, Mass.) each finished with 13 points for RWU.
 
Colby-Sawyer's Terri Duffy (Marshfield, Mass.) went for a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Noelle Surette (Buxton, Maine) just missed a double-double by a rebound, going for 14 points and nine rebounds.
 
Roger Williams (9-10, 4-3 TCCC) takes on Salve Regina Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m., while Colby-Sawyer (12-6, 5-2 TCCC) hosts Endicott Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
