CHANDLER, Ariz. – The Roger Williams University Baseball team began its annual spring break trip with a pair of wins in a doubleheader against Hope College (Mich.) Saturday afternoon, winning the first game 4-2 and the second 3-2.
James Lydon (Calverton, N.Y.) picked up the win in the opener, pitching six strong innings with six strikeouts. Billy Dunn (Fiskdale, Mass.) earned the save in relief, throwing a hitless seventh inning to help the Hawks secure the victory.
Jamie Dahill (S. Boston, Mass.) was perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double and triple, just missing the cycle. He also knocked in an RBI and scored two of the three RWU runs.
In the nightcap, Brian Hurld (S. Boston, Mass.) went the distance for the Hawks, giving up only two runs in seven innings of work, in addition to setting down three.
Bill Lambert (Hanover, Mass.) matched Dahill's feat from the first game with three hits in three at-bats while adding two RBIs and a stolen base. As for Dahill, he followed up his perfect performance by going 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Roger Williams (2-0) continues its spring swing with a doubleheader against Springfield College tomorrow beginning at 12:30 p.m.
