Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Men's Tennis team fell in its final match of the team's California Spring Break trip, as the Hawks were defeated 1-8 by Chapman College Thursday afternoon.
In doubles action,
Brad Bolte (Augusta, N,J.) and
Jason Dono (West Boylston, Mass.) dropped an 8-3 decision in the #1 flight to Clifford York and Leland Buttle, while
Kyle Baker (Bolton, Conn.) and
Dan Kleitz (Wethersfield, Conn.) fell 8-2 to Tyler Martin and Jeff Fracalosy in #2 doubles. The duo of
Ryan Fayed (Glastonbury, Conn.) and
Jeff Agonia (Lincoln, R.I.) were bested by Chapman's Wesley Nomi and Scott Fong, losing the #3 flight 8-5.
The Hawks' win came in the form of a 6-4, 6-4 victory by Fayed over Fracalosy in #5 singles. For the rest of the team, Yook defeated Bolte 6-4, 6-0 in #1 singles, and Buttle won his #2 singles decision 6-1, 6-2 over Dono.
Daniel Roberts (Milford, Conn.) lost a 6-3, 6-3 match in #3 singles to Martin, in addition to Nomi earning a 6-4, 6-0 win for Chapman in #4 singles, beating Baker. The Hawks' final match ended in favor of Chapman, as Fong defeated
William Andersen (North Newton, Mass.) 6-0, 6-1 in #6 singles.
Roger Williams (3-5) will begin Commonwealth Coast Conference play Tuesday with a 4:00 p.m. match against Curry College.
