Jay Dono earns wins at No. 1 doubles and No. 2 singles

BRISTOL, R.I.- The Roger Williams men's tennis team defeated Curry College 9-0 in what was both teams' conference opener.  Roger Williams' record improves to 3-5, while Curry drops to 0-4 with the loss.

The competition began with doubles, where Jason Dono (West Boylston, Mass.) teamed with partner Daniel Roberts (Milford, Conn.) to defeat Justin Levin and Brian Leahy in the day's tightest match, 8-6.  At No. 2 doubles, sophomore Kyle Baker (Bolton, Conn.) worked the court with freshman Dan Kleitz (Wethersfield, Conn.) and earned the victory over Charles Edlund and Matthew Lawrence, 8-1.  Rouding out doubles play at No. 3, senior Brad Bolte (Augusta, N.J.) partnered with junior Jeff Agonia (Lincoln, R.I.) to defeat Ben Radzicki and Nick Kszepka 801.

In the following singles matches, all victories were earned in straight sets.  Bolte led off in play at No. 1, earning the win over Levine 6-1, 6-2.  Playing at No. 2, senior Dono beat Edlund, 6-4, 6-3. In the No. 3 position, Roberts defeated Leahy, 6-2, 6-3.  At No. 4, Baker had the upper hand, winning over Lawrence 6-0, 6-0.  In the No. 5 spot, senior Ryan Fayed (Glastonbury, Conn.) downed Tyler Dulmage 6-0, 6-2.  At. No. 6, freshman William Andersen (Newton, Mass.) did not allow Radzicki to score a point, and earned the 6-0, 6-0 win.

Roger Williams will compete again this Thursday, when they travel to face non-conference opponent Bridgewater State in a 3:30 matchup.  Curry continues their road streak when they travel to take on UMass-Boston on Thursday at 3:00 p.m.
