Box Score BRISTOL, R.I.- The women's lacrosse team earned a convincing 16-4 road win Thursday over Worcester State College. The Hawks improve to 8-2 on the season while the Lancers fall to 5-2.
Freshman
Claire Halliday (Trenton, N.J.) led the Hawks with five goals and two assists while teammate
Jackie Criss (Westwood, Mass.) recorded three goals and three assists.
RWU surrendered the game's first goal at 27:40 scored by junior Megan Rosborough (Uxbridge, Mass.) who finished with a team-high two goals in the game. The Hawks would go on to score the game's next six goals, including back-to-back goals by Criss, a goal by
Kary Rodgers (Brookfield, Conn.) and three straight by Halliday. The half ended with RWU ahead 7-3.
RWU continued to control the game in the second half, outscoring the Lancers, 9-1. Halliday added two more in addition to a pair from
Kate Malenczak (Sayville, N.Y.). Criss tallied her third of the game at 17:22 followed by Rodgers and
Lauren Ferri (Northport, N.Y.) who added their second goals of the day. Rosborough scored Worcester State's lone goal of the second half.
Lyndsey Nunes (W. Springfield, Mass.) made 12 saves in the loss while
Amanda Magee(Columbus, N.J.) stopped 10 shots for Roger Williams.
The Hawks play their next game at home against The Commonwealth Coast Conference rival Salve Regina, Saturday, beginning at 2:30 p.m. The game marks the final regular season home game for the Hawks' three seniors, Rodgers,
Kara Smolca (Gaithersburg, Md.) and
Lindsay Clarken (North Caldwell, N.J.).
