BRISTOL, R.I.- The Roger Williams women's tennis team hosted NEWMAC opponent Mount Holyoke College on Sunday and was narrowly defeated by the visiting Lyons, 5-4.  After dropping the three doubles flights, the Hawks climbed back in singles competition, taking four of six flights, but ended the  match down by one point.

In doubles competition, all three contests were close, coming down to the final points.  At. No. 1, Caitlyn Leone (Irvington, N.Y.) and Leah Ribchinsky (Ivoryton, Conn.) fell to Natalie Hsiang and Meaghan Sloane 8-6.  Both the No. 2 and No. 3 decisions came on identical 9-7 scores, as  Haley McCraven (Ipswich, Mass.) and Kelsey Parente (Barkhamsted, Conn.) fell to Sarah London and Beatrix Hartmann in the second slot, while Joanna Nettlefield (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) and Katherine Wilmes (Milton, Mass.) were defeated by Eleni Scordilis and Elise Marifian in the third spot.

Things looked up for the Hawks at singles, as Leone collected the victory at No. 1 over Sloane, 6-4, 6-2.  Also earnings wins were Parente at the No. 4 position, McCraven playing at No. 5., and freshman Megan Harrington (Leicester, Mass.) at No. 6, who had a long battle with Scordilis, before coming out on top 3-6, 7-6 (3), (10-4).

Roger Williams continues along its spring slate of competiion on Wednesday, as they travel to western Massachusetts to face Springfield College at 4:00 p.m.
