Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. – The second-seeded Roger Williams University Men's Tennis punched its ticket to the TCCC Championship Tuesday afternoon with a 7-2 win over #3 Colby-Sawyer College.
Brad Bolte (Augusta, N.J.) and
Daniel Roberts (Milford, Conn.) picked up three of the Hawks seven points in the match via singles and doubles wins. Leading off with the doubles portion of the match, Bolte and Roberts took on Ryan Murray (Killingworth, Conn.) and Ben Taylor (Derry, N.H.) in #1 doubles, picking up the 8-0 win. The two then split up for singles play, with Bolte facing off against Justin Tardif (Biddeford, Maine) in #1 singles and Roberts taking on Ben Dabush (Weston, Conn.) in #2 singles. Both Hawks came away victorious, with Bolte getting the 6-1, 6-3 decision and Roberts winning by a 6-4, 6-2 score.
Murray and Bryan Racz earned the two wins for Colby-Sawyer, with Racz defeating
Dan Kleitz (Wethersfield, Conn.) 6-4, 6-0 in #5 singles and Murray winning a 6-4, 2-6, 10-3 decision over
Brian Kennedy (Cheshire, Conn.).
Roger Williams (13-7, 7-2 TCCC) will square off against top-seeded Salve Regina University on Saturday at 1:00 p.m for the TCCC Championship. Salve Regina advanced after sweeping Endicott College 9-0 in the other semifinal match. Colby-Sawyer finishes the season with a 12-7 overall record and 7-2 record in the TCCC.
