WALTHAM, Mass. --The Brandeis University women's tennis team defeated visiting Roger Williams University, 9-0, on the Rieger Tennis Courts today, snapping the Hawks' 14-match winning streak.

Brandeis (8-4) had few problems today, dropping just one set in singles action, and losing more than one game in just three others. Junior Gabrielle Helfgott (Newton, Mass.) had the easiest route at No. 3 singles, winning 6-1, 6-0. Rookie Rachel Rosman (Bonita Springs, Fla.) and senior Colleen Donnelly (Bethany, Conn.) each won by a 6-1, 5-1 score at No. 1 and 2 singles, respectively, and combined for an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles. Sophomore Ariana Sanai (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) and rookie Mackenzie Gallegos (Friendswood, Texas) were 6-2, 6-1, winners at No. 4 and No. 5 singles.

Roger Williams (14-2) had its best showing at No. 6 singles, where rookie Megan Harrington (Leicester, Mass.) won the first set, 6-3, but Brandeis sophomore Emily Weisberger (Wayne, N.J.) rallied for a 6-1 win in set two and took a 10-3 third-set super-tiebreaker. Harrington and senior Joanna Nettelfield (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) just missed earning a point for the Hawks at No. 3 doubles, where Sanai and senior Jen Levine (Scarsdale, N.Y.) won 9-8, 7-3 in the tiebreaker.
