Box Score WENHAM, Mass.- The Roger Williams men's tennis team earned a convincing 8-1 victory over conference opponent Gordon College on Tuesday. The Hawks took all six singles flights and two of three doubles flights in the win.
Senior Daniel Roberts (Milford, Conn.) played for the first time at No. 1 singles, earning a 6-2, 6-1 win over Michael Larson. Sohpomore Kyle Baker (Bolton, Conn.) earned the win in the No. 2 position, 6-3, 6-3 over Greg Zini. At No. 3 singles, senior Ryan Fayed (Glastonbury, Conn.) defeated Andrew Van Rheenen 6-0, 6-4.
Dan Kleitz (Wethersfield, Conn.), Brian Kennedy (Cheshire, Conn.) and William Andersen (Newton, Mass.) all earned points with wins at Nos. 4-6 singles, respectively.
The only loss for the Hawks came at No. 1 doubles, as Kleitz and Baker fell to Zini and Larson in a closely contested match, 9-8 (5-0 tiebreaker). #Jeffrey Agonia# (Lincoln, R.I.) teamed with Fayed to earn a win at No. 2 doubles, while Kennedy and Roberts paired up for the victory in the No. 3 position.
With the win, the Hawks' record improves to 8-1 (4-1 TCCC), while the Fighting Scots drop to 2-11 and are still looking for their first conference win.
Roger Williams faces off against TCCC opponent Western New England College at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday in Springfield, Mass.
