BRISTOL, R.I.- The women's volleyball team improved to 9-5 on the season and 2-2 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference after sweeping host Regis College Wednesday night, 3-0.
Junior Erica Dovale (Hope, R.I.) posted a match-high 10 kills, including five in the first set, to help lead the Hawks to the 25-20 win. RWU won the second set by the same score before completing the sweep with a 25-16 win in the third set.
“Every conference win is a great win,” said head coach Bret Stothart. “To take this match in three sets is a good step for our team as we continue to raise our expectations regarding the consistency of our level of play.”
Three Hawks contributed five kills in the well spread offense: sophomore Rebekah Dion (Old Saybrook, Conn.), sophomore Brittney Sullivan (Nashua, N.H.) and freshman Jessica Warren (Stony Brook, N.Y.). The team as a whole combined for a .228 hitting percentage on the night, guided by senior setter Kirsten Bosworth (Centerville, Mass.) and her 27 assists.
Regis falls to 6-8 overall and 1-2 in the TCCC, despite a strong all-around effort by senior Ashley Paolini (Epping, N.H.). The Pride next face Pine Manor College, Friday, at home.
RWU travels to Babson College, Saturday, facing the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth at 2 p.m., followed by a match against the host at 4 p.m.
