NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Roger Williams Women's Tennis team was defeated by Colby-Sawyer on Wednesay in the TCCC Semifinals.  The Hawks held a 2-1 advantage after the doubles matches, but Colby-Sawyer took four of the singles matches to get the victory 5-2.  The number one seed knocked off the Hawks who were the number five seed and ended the season for the Hawks.

The number one singles match saw Colby-Sawyer's Jen LaChance (Killingworth, Conn.) and Hannah White (Stockbridge, Mass.) defeat RWU's Leah Ribchinsky (Ivoryton, Conn.) and Caitlin Osepchuk (Ocean Grove, N.J.) by a score of 8-2.  The Hawks came back in the number two match as Tracy Klein (New City, N.Y.) and Amanda Wolfe (Mansfield, Mass.) downed Mary Francis (North Steuben, Maine) and Brittany Mailman (Freedom, N.H.) from the Chargers by a final of 8-5.  The third doubles match as Katelin Richard (West Islip, N.Y.) and Kristin Dono (West Boylston, Mass.) narrowly beat out Lauren Turenne (Reading, Mass.) and Claire Toffey (Barnstable, Mass.) from CSC 9-8 (10-5 tiebreaker).

The singles matches went all Colby-Sawyer's way as they went 6-0 against the Hawks.  Francis beat Ribchinsky in two sets by scores of 6-4 and 7-6 (6-2 tiebreaker).  The number two singles also went two sets as Klein was defeated by Lachance, 6-4, 6-2.  The match between Wolfe and Klein went unfinished in the third set with scores of 6-1, 3-6 and 5-5.  Osepchuk and Toffey faced off in the fourth singles match and that went unfinished as well with the scores at 6-3 and 6-6 with Toffey in the lead.  Turenne was able to beat Richard in two sets, 6-4 and 6-3 in the fifth singles match.  The sixth and final singles match went to the Chargers by scores of 6-3 and 6-4 as Mailman defeated Libby Magner (Lakefield, Mass.).  With the win the Chargers advance to the TCCC finals where they will host Endicott College.

The loss ends the Hawks hopes for a chance at the title as their fall season comes to an end.  The Hawks finish up at 9-6 and 8-3 in the conference while the Chargers improve to 15-1 and 10-1 in the conference.
