NEW LONDON, N.H. – Despite taking four out of six singles matches on the day, the Roger Williams University Women's Tennis team could not extend its winning streak to five, falling 5-4 to Colby-Sawyer College Saturday afternoon.

The Chargers got off to a great start taking all three doubles matches off the Hawks. LaChance and teammate Hannah White (Stockbridge, Mass.) got the team's first victory by an 8-2 margin over Leah Ribchinsky (Ivoryton, Conn.) and Katelin Richard (West Islip, N.Y.). Seniors Mary Francis (North Steuben, Maine) and Brittany Mailman (Freedom, N.H.) earned a victory at No. 2 doubles. Sophomore Lauren Turenne (Reading, Mass.) and freshman Claire Toffey (Barnstable, Mass.) defeated Paige Cunningham (Wethersfield, Conn.) and Olivia Hilton (Vernon, Conn.), 8-2.

Francis and LaChance each won their singles matches at the first and second flights, respectively, to give the Chargers the victory. However, the Hawks won the remaining four matches at No. 3 through No. 6 singles.

Colby-Sawyer remains undefeated at 5-0 overall and 4-0 in the TCCC. Roger Williams suffers its first TCCC match and falls to 4-2 overall and 4-1 in the conference.

Colby-Sawyer will play next on Tuesday at defending TCCC Champions Endicott. Roger Williams will host Curry College on Tuesday as well.
