BRISTOL, R.I. - The Roger Williams University Women's Tennis team put on an impressive performance on Tuesday, beating visiting Curry College 9-0. The hosts won all of the matches in the singles and doubles en route to victory.
Amanda Wolfe (Mansfield, Mass.) led the way for the Hawks winning by dual scores of 6-0 over Allison Eisenach (Hamden, Conn.) in the #2 singles match. Tracy Klein (New City, N.Y.) won her #1 Singles match against Lauren Maloney (Feeding Hills, Mass.) by scores of 6-0 and 6-1. With identical scores, Kristin Dono (West Boylston, Mass.) defeated Courtney Sullivan (Dover, N.H.) in the #5 Singles match. Also victorious for RWU was Paige Cunningham (Wethersfield, Conn.) as she downed Jessica Spinale (Saugus, Mass.) by scores of 6-1 and 6-0 in the #4 Singles match, as well as Olivia Hilton (Vernon, Conn.) who defeated Francesa Panebianco (Huntington, N.Y.) for the #6 singles match. Rounding out the singles competition was Katelin Richard (West Islip, N.Y.) who won against Kathleen Rush (Waterbury, Conn.) by scores of 6-3 and 6-4 in the #3 singles match.
The doubles went much like the singles for the hosts as they won all three of the matches played. Klein and Wolfe defeated Maloney and Kate Johnson (Beverly, Mass.) by a score of 8-1 in the #1 Doubles match. The team of Richard and Dono took down Curry's team of Weisenbach and Spinale by a score of 8-0 in the #2 Doubles match. The final #3 Doubles match was won by RWU's Hilton and Melissa Perry (Bristol, R.I.) over the pair of Elizabeth Silsbury (Dorset, Vt.) and Kathleen D'Andrea (Dudley, Mass.) by a score of 8-1.
Roger Williams improves to 5-2 on the year and 5-1 in the TCCC, while Curry drops to 2-6 overall and 2-5 in the TCCC.
Next up for the Hawks is Bridgewater State on Thursday at home. Match time is set for 3:30. Curry will also be playing on Thursday at 3:30 as they host Johnson & Wales.
