Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. - The Roger Williams University Women's Tennis team fell to 5-3 as Bridgewater State College defeated them 5-4 on Thursday evening.  RWU split the singles matches, but lost two of the three doubles matches to a strong team from Bridgewater State.

The #1 singles competition was played by Leah Ribchinsky (Ivoryton, Conn.) from RWU who defeated Bridgewater State's Rachel Elman (Rehoboth, Mass.) by a score of 6-4, 6-2.  Also winning for the Hawks was Tracy Klein (New City, N.Y.) in the #2 Singles match over Catarina Rosa (Fall River, Mass.) in a three set match, 7-5, 4-6, 6-2.  The #3 Singles was won by the Home team as well, as Amanda Wolfe (Mansfield, Mass.) beat Paulina Ucher (Webster, Mass.) from BSC in another three set match, 4-6, 7-5, 6-2.  Bridgewater State was victorious in the other three singles matches.  The #4 Singles was won by Jessica Francis (West Barnstable, Mass.) over Katelin Richard (West Islip, N.Y.), 6-2, 4-6, 7-5.  Julie Kraby (Wrentham, Mass.) from BSC defeated Libby Magner (Lakefield, Mass.) by a score of 6-0, 6-2.  The final singles match was won by Bridget Murphy (Mattapoisett, Mass.) over RWU's Melissa Perry (Bristol, R.I) in the fourth match to go to a third set, 6-1, 0-6, 7-5.

The first Doubles match saw RWU's Klein and Wolfe defeat BSC's Francis and Murphy, 8-3.  This would be the home team's only win in doubles as Elman and Ucher beat Ribchinsky and Magner 8-4, and Rosa and Kraby from BSC were victorious over the Hawks Richard and Kristin Dono (West Boylston, Mass.) by a final score of 9-8 (2-0 tiebreaker).

The loss was the third of the season for the Hawks, as they drop to 5-3 with the non-conference loss.  Bridgewater State College continues to be impressive as they remain undefeated, and improve to 7-0.

The RWU Women's Tennis team is next in action against Western New England College on Saturday for a TCCC match with a scheduled start time of 12 pm in Springfield, Mass.  Bridgewater State will be at home against UMass Boston, also on Saturday at noon.
