BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Women's Tennis team defeated Western New England University 8-1 on Saturday afternoon to earn its first Commonwealth Coast Conference win of the 2011 season.

The matchup of the day came at #4 singles between Hillary Dutton (Cheshire, Conn.) and Jessica Haffner (Suffield, Conn.). After Haffner took the first set 6-0, the two batted to a 7-6 (14-12) tiebreaker in the second set, with Dutton tying the match at one. Dutton would complete the comeback with a 10-7 win in the third set.

At #1 singles, Christina Barbarisi (Feeding Hills, Mass.) and Tracy Klein (New City, N.Y.) also played a back-and-forth match, with Barbarisi earning the Golden Bears' lone point with a 6-2, 5-7, 10-8 victory.

Amanda Wolfe (Mansfield, Mass.) and Caitlin Osepchuk (Ocean Grove, N.J.) each earned their second singles wins of the season with respective victories at #3 and #5 over Nicole DeSimone (6-0, 7-5) and Lori Pagliano (6-1, 6-0).

Roger Williams (2-1, 1-0 CCC) hosts Endicott College on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m., while Western New England (0-2, 0-2 CCC) plays Curry Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
