BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Women's Tennis team closed out the regular season with a 9-0 win against Salve Regina University on Senior Day. In the process, Neil Caniga earned his 100th career victory as a head coach.
Klein played a role in two of the Hawks' wins on the day, beginning with an 8-2 victory with Hillary Dutton (Cheshire, Conn.) at #2 doubles against Kasey Walther (Natick, Mass.) and Shannon O'Brien (Gorham, Maine). Klein would then go on later in the day to collect a 6-1, 6-0 win over Walther at #1 singles.
Hilton took home an 8-6 win at #3 doubles with Alexandra Reilly (North Easton, Mass.) against Elizabeth DiFilippo (West Chester, Pa.) and Meg Olson (Colchester, Vt.).
With the wins, Klein collected her 36th career singles victory, placing her in a tie for the seventh-most wins in school history. In addition, she won her 37th career doubles match, wich is tied for fifth-most in RWU history.
Hilton enjoyed her best season in singles play during her four years as a Hawk. She sports a 7-1 record on the year, tying a career high for most singles win in a season. She also has the best singles win percentage on the team for the year at .825.
Head Coach Neil Caniga improved to 52-25 as the Women's Tennis coach at Roger Williams. Caniga also has 35 wins under his belt with the Men's Tennis team. Coming to Roger Williams, Caniga had 13 victories with the Moravian Men's Tennis team.
Roger Williams (8-3, 6-2 CCC) claims the #3 seed in the upcoming Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament. Salve Regina (4-6, 3-5 CCC) earns the #6 seed, setting up a rematch between the two teams in the CCC Quarterfinals on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Roger Williams.
