Brown sets down Wrestling in first meeting

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – In the first-ever match between Brown University and the Roger Williams University Wrestling team, the Bears came away with the 41-9 victory Friday afternoon.

Robert Markowski (Wayne, N.J.) earned one of the two Hawk victories on the day, defeating Dave Foxen by a 6-4 margin at 174. William Salovitch (Chatham, N.J.) won by default at heavyweight.

Brown notched four pins against the Hawks at 125, 141, 157, and 197. The remainder of the victories for the Bears came either via tech fall or major decision.

The loss for the Hawks snaps a five-match winning streak and drops RWU to 11-5.

Roger Williams will have little time to dwell on the loss as the Hawks are back in action tomorrow against Western New England.
