BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Women's Tennis won its 2011-12 home finale Friday afternoon with a 6-3 win over Clark University.
Despite only fielding five players, the Hawks were able to take two of the three doubles matches and four of the six singles flights.
Hillary Dutton (Cheshire, Conn.) and Tracy Klein (New City, N.Y.) rolled off an 8-5 win over Sarah Sachs and Gaby Suriano at #1 doubles. At #2 doubles, Alexandra Brown (Kennett, Mo.) and Alexandra Reilly (North Easton, Mass.) defeated Julia Bergeron and Virginia Cooke
Samantha Curran (Cumberland, R.I.) notched a 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) win at #2 singles for the Hawks, while Dutton won 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 over Bergeron. Brown would later defeat Cooke 6-3, 6-3 at #4 singles, with Reilly notching a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Martha Ziemer.
Suriano had the only win for Clark not via forfeit at #1 singles, a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Klein.
Roger Williams (12-6) wraps up the year on April 21 at Mount Holyoke College.
