Field Hockey cruises to win over Bay Path

Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Field Hockey team rolled off its second straight victory Wednesday afternoon with a 3-0 win over Bay Path University.

Bay Path's Anna Meyer (Millbrook, N.Y.) remained busy for the Wildcats throughout the early part of the game, as the Hawk offense pressured the Bay Path defense throughout the period. She turned away back-to-back shots by Meghan Curran (West Milford, N.J.) and Kelly Keating (Reading, Mass.) in the 12th minute to keep the game scoreless.

The Hawks would eventually come through in the 16th minute, with Keating taking a pass inside the crease from Alexandra Baxter (Groton, Mass.) to give RWU a 1-0 advantage.

Stephanie Yaeger (Gansevoort, N.Y.) was awarded a penalty stroke in the 23rd minute and put up a shot right up the middle at Meyer, who made a diving one-handed save to keep the deficit at one.

In the second half, the Hawks added to its lead with a goal in the 42nd minute. Meghan Curran (West Milford, N.J.) took advantage of a loose ball in the arc off of a penalty corner and converted the shot for her third goal of the season.

Curran added one more goal in the final minute, taking a pass from Sarah Link (Blossvale, N.Y.) inside the arc for a shot up the middle as she was falling down for the Roger Williams stifled Bay Path throughout the contest, holding the Wildcats without a shot on the day.

Melora Lavoie (Poland, Maine) earned her third career shutout in the win, while Meyer had 15 saves for Bay Path in the loss.
