Field Hockey held down by Endicott

Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Field Hockey team was denied a win in its Commonwealth Coast Conference opener, as Endicott College picked up a 3-0 victory over the Hawks.

The win for Endicott snaps a two-game winning streak for the Hawks and halts the program's bid for its first-ever conference victory.

Endicott remained aggressive all game, holding the Hawks without a shot in the first period and to only four attempts all game. In addition, the Hawks took 23 penalty corners in the contest, while firing 31 shots.

Morgan Bresnahan (South Burlington, Vt.) started things off for the Gulls, knocking in a ball from Emily Sawchuck (Cumberland, Maine) in the ninth minute to give Endicott an early 1-0 lead.

Later in the second, Endicott added to its lead. Elizabeth LeClair (Wilton, Maine) found Brittany Bushey (Pittsfield, Vt.) in the arc for a shot and her third goal of the year in the 21st minute.

Bresnahan closed out the scoring for Endicott in the 52nd minute, scoring her second goal of the contest off of an assist by Ashleigh Allen (Glastonbury, Conn.).

Rose Bradley (Pottsdown, Pa.) returned from injury to earn her first win of the season, while Melora Lavoie (Poland, Maine) set a new school record for saves in a game, making 15 stop on the day.

Roger Williams (3-3, 0-1 CCC) heads to Gordon College on Wednesday, while Endicott (4-1, 1-0 CCC) hosts Westfield State on Tuesday.
