Box Score DUDLEY, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Field Hockey team picked up its third Commonwealth Coast Conference win of the season Wednesday afternoon, defeating Nichols College by a 3-2 margin.
Juliana Miccile (Upton, Mass.) opened the game with a goal in the 12
th minute, putting in a rebound off of a
Katherine Mahoney (West Suffield, Conn.) shot that was blocked. Miccile's fifth goal of the season gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead.
Meghan Curran (West Milford, N.J.) stepped up next for the Hawks, scoring in the 26th minute with a turn-around shot to put Roger Williams up 2-0.
The Hawks took the two-goal lead into the second half before Miccile notched her second score of the game in the 40
th minute to build the lead to three.
The Hawks looked poised to win easily, but the Bison rallied late. Brooke Marion put Nichols on the board in the 43
rd minute with a shot off of a rebound. Then McKayla Pratte took a pass from Courteney White to bring Nichols within one.
Fortunately for RWU, the Hawks were able to hold Nichols off the board in the final six minutes of the game to get the win.
Mya Lunn (Marion, Mass.) notched the win, making two saves for RWU.
