WORCESTER, Mass. - The Roger Williams University Wrestling team went 2-0 on Saturday Nov. 21. Picking up two wins against Nationally-ranked No. 23 Ursinus College and Norwich Unversity.
Ursinus tested its mettle right away against Roger Williams, ranked second in Division III by InterMat Wrestling. The Bears, ranked No. 26, gave the Hawks all they could handle, starting with back-to-back decisions at 125 and at 133. The Bears scored a 7-0 decision over
Carter Merecki (Cambridge, N.Y.) at 157, but the Hawks posted major decisions at 165 by
Ty Herzog (Slatington, Pa.) and 184 by
Joe Albina (Milford, N.H.) and a technical fall at 197 to take control. The Hawks defeated the Bears 22-9.

Roger Williams University took on Norwich University Cadets in the final match of the day. Roger Williams would forfeit the 125 class, giving the Cadets six points to start with. The Hawks would show its true power in the next nine matches, picking up five falls, two technical falls and two decisions for the 44-6 win.

All four teams are off until the first weekend in December. WPI (2-0) and Norwich (2-2) head to the Rochester, N.Y. for the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Tournament and Roger Williams (5-0) ventures to York (PA) for the New Standard Corporation Invitational both on Saturday, December 5th while Ursinus (0-3) begins competition a day earlier in the two-day Petrofes Invitational hosted by Messiah College.
