Schmidt sets career wins record in Women’s Tennis victory over Bridgewater State

Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. - Lauren Schmidt (South Windsor, Conn.) set the new school record for career singles wins as part of the Roger Williams University Women's Tennis team's 8-1 victory over Bridgewater State University Thursday afternoon.

Schmidt collected a 6-1, 6-0 win over Alisha Silva (Taunton, Mass.) at #3 singles to earn her 52^nd career win. The win puts her in sole possession of first place in Roger Williams Women's Tennis history for career wins, breaking the tie of 51 with RWU Athletics Hall of Fame inductee Sara Coleman '03.

In addition to her singles win, Schmidt also earned am 8-1 win at doubles over Silva and Hayley Anderson (San Antonio, Texas) at #1 with Julia Akerman (Greenwich, Conn.).

Bridgewater State picked up its lone win at #6 singles, with Bojana Roman (Somerset, Mass.) defeating Emily Marble (Medfield, Mass.) 6-2, 6-4.

On Saturday. Roger Williams (7-2) steps back into Commonwealth Coast Conference play against Nichols, while Bridgewater State (3-3) takes on MASCAC foe Worcester State.
