Nashua, N.H.- The Roger Williams University wrestling team defeated LIU Post and Daniel Webster on Friday afternoon in Nashua, N.H. The hawks defeated LIU Post, a division II team, 20-18 and Daniel Webster 48-9.
Â
The hawks were off to a good start when sophomore Nick Barbaria (Scarsdale, N.Y.) defeated Joe Paterno from LIU Post. The Pioneers would then win weight classes 133 and 141, until junior,
Danny Downes (Houston, TX) had a decision over Matt Langan of LIU Post. The hawks were down 18-14 going into heavyweight until
Kyle Foster (Somers, CT) stepped up and got a pin to secure the team victory. Head coach
Jon Egan quoted "We had three starters out due to injuries and sickness and needed someone to step up for the team. Kyle did what he always does, he put the Hawks on his shoulders and won a huge match for us."
Â
The hawks would then face off against Daniel Webster. The hawks showed no mercy having Daniel Webster win only two weight classes.
Dan Roger started it off for the hawks followed by
Tom Sewell (East Northport, N.Y.),
Max Axelrod (Barrington, R.I.),
Zachary Marcoulier (Southborough, MA),
Brandon Dufour (Colchester, CT),
Dan Ressler (Hillsdale, N.J.),
Connor Humphries (East Longmeadow, MA), and
Chris Cornwell (East Greenville, PA) all winning their weight classes.

The Hawks will compete again Saturday, 1/16/16 taking on WPI, Wesleyan, and Trinity in Worcester MA starting at 12PM.
