Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Field Hockey team was downed Tuesday evening by Wesleyan University, falling by a 2-1 score.
 
Roger Williams struck first in the game, tallying the first goal in the seventh minute. Lillian McNeil (Marshfield, Mass.) had the ball on the left side of the arc and tapped a pass to Jenna Clavette (Enfield, Conn.). She was able to curl a shot just inside the left corner of the goal to put RWU up 1-0.
 
However, the Hawks' lead would be short-lived as Wesleyan answered back four minutes later. Kayla Di Sibio (Sandy Hook, Conn.) fired a shot on goal that was turned away by Hawk keeper Mya Lunn (Marion, Mass.). However, the ball bounced directly to Cici Frattasio (Walpole, Mass.) and she was able to convert the goal, taking advantage of the Hawks caught off guard.
 
Wesleyan made one more charge in the final minute of the first half, putting up five shots over the span. However, Lunn was able to stop four of the shots with the other sailing wide to help keep the game tied at one entering the second half.
 
Wesleyan would take the lead early into the second half. In the 41^st minute, Frattasio and Nikki Gerjarusak (Wayland, Mass.) had a nice back-and-forth passing affair that culminated in Gerjarusak putting in a shot in the left corner to give the Cardinals the lead.
 
Wesleyan held the Hawks in the second half on both ends of the field, holding RWU to only two shots in the period. Conversely, Wesleyan tallied ten shots on the offensive side.
 
Lunn finished with eight saves for RWU on the night, while Delaney Wood (Winslow, Maine) had two stops while earning the win.
 
On Saturday, Roger Williams (1-1) hosts Manhattanville College at 3:30 pm while Wesleyan (1-0) welcomes Babson at noon.
