Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. - The Roger Williams University Women's Tennis team fell to Bentley University Tuesday afternoon in Bristol, R.I. 6-3.
In their second match of the season, the Hawks were able to take two wins in doubles play.
Kathryn Hughes (Westford, Mass.) and
Julia Akerman (Greenwich, Conn.) defeated Bentley's Hannah Fabianski (Pawcatuck, Conn.) and Katie Brandow (East Northport, N.Y.) by a 9-8 score.
Ali Stankiewicz (Brunswick, Maine) and
Allie Grinavic (North Attleboro, Mass.) picked up the Hawks' second win over Tiffany Suchanek (Waterville, Maine) and Olivia von Oldenburg (Austin, Texas) 8-6. The Falcons received their first win of the day with Evann Welty (Wayzata, Minn.) and Rachel Hui (Hong Kong) knocking off
Gabrielle Riley (Barnstable, Mass.) and
Jessica Magliato (New Rochelle, N.Y.) by a score of 8-1.
The Falcons cruised through singles play. Fabianski defeated Hughes in three sets 7-6, 2-6, 10-7. By a score of 6-1, 6-0, Bentley's Suchanek took down Ackerman. Hui and Welty were able to sweep two Hawks, Stankiewicz and
Taryn Roche (Greenlawn, N.Y.), 6-0, 6-0. RWU's
Allie Grinavic was able to put up more of a fight against Jill Kamphaus (Walpole, Mass.) but fell 6-4, 6-4. Riley was the only Hawk able to grab a win in singles play. She defeated von Oldenburg 6-1, 6-2.
