Women’s Tennis Holds Off Agnes Scott

Box Score ORLANDO, Fla. – The Roger Williams University Women's Tennis team began their Spring Break trip with a 5-4 win over Agnes Scott College Sunday evening.
 
Riley Spillane (Easton, Mass.) and Morgan Crimmins (Boston, Mass.) began the day for Roger Williams with an 8-4 win over Camille Wilson and Felicia Jacques at #3 doubles. Lizzy Engsberg and Taylor Lee tied up the match with an 8-6 victory over Allie Grinavic (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Jessica Magliato (New Rochelle, N.Y.) at #2 doubles. Taryn Roche (Greenlawn, N.Y.) and Heidi Martin (Scituate, Mass.) gave RWU the lead with a hard-fought 9-8 (7-5) win over Anastasia Bennett and Jasmie Keiler at #2.
 
At singles, Dana Englander (North Haledon, N.J.) extended the Hawk lead to 3-1 after taking down Jacy Pippin 6-2, 6-1 at #6 singles. Martin followed with a 6-2, 6-4 victory at #5 over Keiler.
 
Agnes Scott began to rally, beginning with a 6-4, 6-3 win by Lee over Grinavic at #2. Bennett claimed a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Spillane at #3, followed by Engsberg tie the match at four with a 6-4, 6-4 win against Roche at #1.
 
The match would come down to Magliato and Wilson at #4. Wilson took the first set 6-0 before Magliato knotted things up at 6-3 and force a super breaker. Magliato would give Roger Williams the win with a 10-8 win in the tie breaker.
 
Roger Williams (12-4) takes on Springfield tomorrow morning.
