Women’s Tennis Falls To Holy Cross In Season Finale

Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Women's Tennis team closed out the 2017-18 season at the College of the Holy Cross, where the Hawks fell by a 1-6 margin.
 
In the Division I format, the Hawks fell behind 0-1 after dropping the three doubles matches. Allison Reiling and Morgan McGuire paired up to defeat Julia Akerman (Greenwich, Conn.) and Heidi Martin (Scituate, Mass.) 8-6 at #1, while Katie Elia and Katya Martin also earned a win at #2 with a score of 8-2 over Allie Grinavic (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Jessica Magliato (New Rochelle, N.Y.). At #3 doubles, Caroline Kam and Meghan Lewis earned an 8-4 against Taryn Roche (Greenlawn, N.Y.) and Morgan Crimmins (Boston, Mass.).
 
At singles, Roche picked up Roger Williams' only win on the day. She took down Martin 4-6, 6-1, 10-8 at #2 singles. Reiling and Akerman had a hard-fought match at #1, but Reiling claimed the 6-4, 0-6, 10-7 win. Riley Spillane (Easton, Mass.) was taken down 6-3, 6-1 by McGuire at #4 and Kam had a 6-0, 6-0 win against Martin at #6. Grinavic fell 6-2, 6-2 to Elia at #3 while Magliato was downed 6-4, 6-2 at #5.
 
Roger Williams concludes the year at 12-7.
