BRISTOL, R.I. – The fourth-seeded Roger Williams University Field Hockey team hosted its first home Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament game and came away with its first-ever playoff win, knocking of #5 Western New England 3-1 Tuesday evening.

How It Happened
The Hawks were able to hold Western New England without a shot in the first quarter of play, but RWU was unable to capitalize as they were held scoreless as well.
In the second quarter, Roger Williams managed to break through with a goal with five minutes left in the period.
Emma Stevens notched her sixth goal of the season off of a pass from
Brooklyn Cenatiempo to give the Hawks a one-goal halftime advantage.
Three minutes into in the third quarter,
Alex Coppinger added another goal for Roger Williams, this time scoring on an assist from
Hannah Palmer. Roger Williams would add one more goal with four minutes left in the game as Cenatiempo found Palmer to give RWU a commanding 3-0 lead.
Western New England was able to end the shutout in the final 1:36 of the game, with Maggie Gallagher scoring off of an assist from Madison Barron. Yet the two-goal deficit was too much for the Golden Bears to overcome, as RWU clinched the landmark victory.
