MINNEOLA, Fla.—The Roger Williams Softball team defeated Simpson College 7-4 and Geneva College 10-6 on a sunny afternoon in Florida.

The Hawks took the 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second when Bella Malvinni (Westerly, R.I.) reached on an error by the center fielder scoring Tara Chatowsky (North Kingstown, R.I.) and Katrina Goria (Wyckoff, N.J.).

In the bottom of the third, Sydney Provencal (Cumberland, R.I.) singled to right field and then advanced to second from a ground out by Alyssa Murray (Green Brook, N.J.). Alexandra Lombardo (Thomaston, Conn.) was next up to bat and hit the ball up the middle to score Provencal for a 3-0 lead.

However, the Storm caught up in the fourth hitting five singles and three RBI's tying the game at 3's.

Goria led off with a double to left field to begin the bottom of the fourth inning for the Hawks. New pitcher Mary Leopold (Thorndale, Texas) walked Chatowsky as Goria stole third. Malvinni hit a sacrifice fly to left field to plate Goria for the go ahead run. Now at the top of the lineup, Elizabeth Lombardo (Thomaston, Conn.) walks and Alexis Romano (Shirley, N.Y.) who went 3 for 4 on the day, singles to second scoring Chatowsky. Another sacrifice fly and Rachel Wandzilak's (West Islip, N.Y.) single scored two more for a 7-3 lead.

The Storm tried to come back in the bottom of the seventh scoring one final run on a couple of errors and a sacrifice fly but they could not get it done.

Freshman Lia Nocella (Tyngsboro, Mass.) recorded the first win of the day and her third of the season for the Hawks.

RWU came alive in the top of the second of game two.  With two outs and a pair of walks, E. Lombardo singled to left field scoring one. Romano was next up and hit the ball up the middle for a 2 RBI single to give the Hawks a 3-0 lead.

The Golden Tornados earned four runs between the third and the fourth inning to put them ahead 4-3.

In the top of the sixth, the Hawks tacked on another run to tie the game but Geneva answered shortly after scoring two more from a couple of errors in the field to make it 6-4.

The top of the seventh was a huge inning for the Hawks as they started off with Ellie Fleming's (Marshfield, Mass.) single through the left side. With one out, A. Lombardo popped up to the left fielder but advanced to second due to a drop ball. This is when Chatowsky smashed a triple to right field scoring two and tying the game at 6-6. With girls on first and second and two outs, Provencal singles to right field advancing on the throw and plating two while an obstruction was called on the catcher to also bring in Malvinni. Next up Goria hit an RBI single to center field scoring one more Hawk as they increase the lead 10-6.
