How It Happened
Suffolk bullied the Hawks down load in the first half, shooting 60.0 percent from the field overall (21-for-35) while pouring in 32 points in the paint in the period. RWU shot well in the first half, hitting at a 48.3 percent clip (14-29) but still found themselves down by 12 entering halftime. The game began tightly contested early on, with five ties and two lead changes in the first six minutes of play, but Suffolk pulled away halfway through.
With the score tied at 13, the Rams scored nine straight points over a four-minute stretch, going up 22-13. Roger Williams would continue to climb their way back in, with a floater by
Eli Harris (Falmouth, Mass.) pulling the Hawks back within one (31-32) with 5:05 left in the half. Suffolk would later close the half on a 12-1 run over the final three minutes to stretch their lead from one to 12, going into the break 50-38.
Roger Williams came out of halftime on fire, using a 14-5 run over the first seven minutes to pull within three (52-55). However, the Hawk offense would stall, scoring only five points over the next six minutes, allowing the Rams to build their lead back to double digits (69-57). From there, Suffolk never had their advantage drop below eight to take the win and improve to 3-0 in the CCC.
