SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Softball team lost two to Western New England University 4-3 and 4-1 this afternoon.

How It Happened
Taylor Howell logged her first hit of the game with two outs in the top of the first. 
Tara Chatowsky (North Kingston, RI) followed with a single of her own through the right side to load up the bases for the Hawks. 
Bay Naples drove in RWU's first two runs with a single to center field. WNE answered in the bottom half of the inning with two runs of their own to tie the game 2-2. In the fourth, the Golden Bear's Kalley Carrano homered to right center for the go ahead run. Later in the sixth, Howell smacked a responding homer over the center field fence to tie the game yet again 3-3. WNE's Dina DiBlasio returned to the plate hitting her second homerun of the season to win the 4-3 game.

How It Happened
WNE started off strong offensively scoring four runs over the course of three innings. The Hawks tried to make a comeback in the fourth when Elizabeth Peters (North Kingstown, RI) reached first base from an error on the second baseman. She was moved over to second when Predaris singled up the middle. 
Taylor Bigliani (Saint James, N.Y.) followed and reached on a fielder's choice putting runners on first and third with no outs. 
Ellie Fleming (Marshfield, Mass.) grounded out to second base but drew in the run for their only run of the game. The Hawks were unable to produce for the rest of the game resulting in a 4-1 loss.

Roger Williams (12-12) takes on Salve Regina on April 17
th at 12:00 and 2:00pm while Western New England (7-5) plays Nichols.
