How It Happened
In the opener, the Hawks jumped out to an early lead, with Francesca Cioffi (Brewster, N.Y.) sending home Isabelle Rosado (Central Islip, N.Y.) with an RBI single in the top of the first. Curry answered in the bottom of the inning with an RBI hit by Lexi Bucker to score Emily Bussiere.

The Colonels took the lead in the following inning when Jordan Ferrulo scored Natalia Okleasky from second with a two-out single down the left field line. Their lead remained until the top the of the fourth, when Roger Williams knotted the game back up at two. After a leadoff double by Cioffi, Kaylin Fehan (Plymouth, Mass.) came in as a pinch running and scored after a misplayed ball in right off of a single by Alex Burdick (Jewett City, Conn.). RWU would take advantage of another Curry miscue in the top of the fifth, as Rosado scored from third on a wild pitch with two outs. Her run would prove to be the game winning score, as Ellie Fleming (Marshfield, Mass.) held off the Colonels, not allowing a base runner past second over the final three innings and earning her first win of the season.

The second game saw a pitcher's duel between Lia Nocella (Tyngsboro, Mass.) and Caitlyn Wood. Nocella scattered six hits and two walks over six innings of work, while Wood allowed two hits in seven innings.

Curry's two clutch hits came in the bottom of the first and the bottom of the fourth. Rogers gave the Colonels their first run of the game with an RBI single, while Kate Hancock later scored Taylor McDermott with an RBI double. RWU's only run of the game came in the sixth, when Fehan scored from third on an error by the second baseman to make it 2-1. However, RWU's last effort in the top of the seventh ended with a fly out to center to strand a runner at second.
