CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Roger Williams University men's soccer team remained unbeaten Wednesday evening, defeating the MIT Engineers 1-0 at Roberts Field.

Jack Avellar (Orleans, Mass.) recorded a seven save shutout in the win.
After the opening 79 minutes of play was held to a scoreless draw, Roger Williams was able to get on the scoresheet, after the Hawks pushed forward after blocking a shot by the Engineers. After running down the field past the defender,
Javi Beltran (Madrid, Spain) buried his shot into the cornet, for the lone goal of the contest.
MIT was able fire three more shots, one of them on net that was saved by Avellar, in the final nine minutes of play, but the Hawks held out for the win.
Roger Williams (3-0-2, 0-0-0 CCC) will travel to Biddeford, Maine on Saturday, Sept. 17 for a 2:30 pm kickoff against the University of New England in their Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opener. The Hawks will then host UMass Dartmouth in a rescheduled contest on Sunday, Sept. 18 at 1 pm on Bayside Field.
