Box Score NEWPORT, R.I. — The Roger Williams University women's tennis team defeated Salve Regina in an away match for Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play on Saturday, winning 9-0.
In doubles play, duo Gianna Ferraro (Westerly, R.I.) and Gracie McCarthy (Marion, Mass.) finished their match first at 8-2. Following them, Emma Place (Francestown, N.H.) and Alessia Cahoon (Dedham, Mass.) won their match 8-1. Izzy Pecora (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) and Olivia Santoro (Cheshire, Conn.) ended at 8-2.
McCarthy dominated the fourth singles match, winning 6-0, 6-0. Santoro followed her lead, winning the sixth singles match, 6-0, 6-0.
Pecora won the fifth singles matchup, 6-0, 6-0. Meanwhile, Ferraro took the second singles match at 6-2, 6-0.
Place in the first singles match ended 6-2, 6-1. Cahoon's first set went into a tiebreak, but she ultimately won the second singles match 7-6, 6-2.
Roger Williams (7-0, 3-0 CCC) will be visiting Suffolk University on Wednesday Sept. 28 at 6:30pm. They will then go against Clark University in an away match on Saturday Oct. 1 before hosting Endicott College.
