Box Score SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – The Roger Williams University field hockey team picked up their second win of the season Saturday afternoon, defeating Mount Holyoke, 4-0.
The Hawks put 14 of their 19 shot attempts on cage, while
Jill Haudenshield (Sykesville, Md.) each of the seven shots that she faced in net.
At the 3:40 mark in the first quarter, the Hawks struck first as
Chelsea King (Schenectady, N.Y.) scored her first goal of her collegiate career.
The Hawks continued to press early in the second quarter, as King picked up the rebound on her initial shot attempt and was able to put her second attempt past the goalie. Less than a minute later
Amelia Monahan (Bristol, N.H.) found the back of the net to take a 3-0 lead at 1:48 into the second frame.
Morgan Foley (Hanover, Mass.) also found the cage in the third quarter, before the Hawks defense was able to hold off the Lyons offense the rest of the way.
Roger Williams (2-0, 0-0 CCC) will host UMass Dartmouth on Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 4 pm on Bayside Field. They will then host Springfield on Saturday, Sept. 10.
