BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University men's soccer team trailed Johnson & Wales 1-0 at the halftime break, but a pair of goals by the Hawks in the second half, propelled the Hawks to a 2-1 victory on Wednesday evening on Bayside Field.
The Wildcats, put four shots on goal, out of their 10 total attempts, while the Hawks put six of their 11 shot attempts on target.
In the first half, Johnson & Wales broke the 0-0 tie in the 25
th minute when Ricky Africo, fired a ball going from the left side of the Roger Williams goalkeeper, that then went over his head and into the net.
After trailing 1-0 after the first half, Roger Williams scored after
Javi Beltran (Madrid, Spain) crossed a ball in that
Liam Blaisdell (Plymouth, Mass.) redirected into the goal, knotting things up at one apiece.
After playing nearly 21 minutes after his initial goal, Blaisdell scored the second goal of his collegiate career, putting the Hawks up for good.
Roger Williams (1-0-1, 0-0-0 CCC) will face Wheaton on Saturday, Sept. 10 on Bayside Field, their final contest at home before traveling to Worcester, Mass. for a 12 pm matchup on Sunday, Sept. 11 against Clark.
