NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. – The Roger Williams University wrestling team went 2-1 at the Violet Duals on Saturday, hosted by NYU.
The Hawks opened the day with a 51-6 victory over Hunter. At 125 pounds,
Ari Dinerman (Ashland, Mass.) earned a pinfall victory in 57 seconds, before Hunter earned six points with a pin of their own at 133 pounds.
Matthew Castillo (Port Washington, N.Y.) then earned a pin in a minute, before
Gavin McKenna earned a 13-10 victory at 149 pounds.
The Hawks then went on a string for five straight pins, and a forfeit to round out scoring.
Against NJCU in their second bouts of the day, the Hawks again earned a 49-3 victory. NJCU earned a five-point win at 125 pounds, before
Shaun McLaughlin (Natick, Mass.) edged out his opponent with a 4-2 win at 133 pounds. The Hawks then rallied off six points in each of their remaining matches.
Against NYU, the Hawks fell 38-6 with Fetrow picking up points at 197 pounds.
Roger Williams (2-1 Dual) will face off against Springfield on Friday, Dec. 8 before hosting the Scott Viera Open on Saturday, Dec. 9.
