BRISTOL, R.I. — The Roger Williams University wrestling team defeated Rhode Island College on Saturday morning, in the Campus Rec Center Field House on the Campus of Roger Williams University.
The match started at 125-pounds where
Ben Dubois (Rehoboth, Mass.) defeated Brett Redner of RIC y decision, pulling out the match with a 5-3 victory. The Anchormen responded with Kwesi Amoa, battling by his opponent at 133-pounds, with a 12-0 victory by major decision.
Tyler Williams then pulled out a key pinfall victory at 141-pounds, retaking the lead for Roger Williams, 9-4, in the match.
Peter Tringali (Chester, N.J.) then had a win over Michael Pestana by decision and was followed by
Ben Bariso (Butler, N.J.) at 157-pounds, for a 12-point swing in favor of the Hawks.
Nathan Lackman then picked up a pin for RIC as they cut the match deficit to 15-10 after the match at 165-pounds. The Hawks then reached a 20-10 lead after a technical fall victory by
Jayden Curley (Mansfield, Mass.), and then
Cole Shaughnessy (Fairfield, Conn.) and
Spencer Fetrow (Holliston, Mass.) combined for back-to-back pins to put the match out of reach for Roger Williams.
Roger Williams (19-4 Dual) will wrestle New England College to close out the day on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 5 pm, up in Henniker, N.H.
