ORLANDO, Fla. – The Roger Williams University women's tennis team defeated SUNY Oneonta 6-3 on Tuesday afternoon.
The Hawks took No . 1 doubles with
Emma Place (Francestown, N.H.) and
Alessia Cahoon (Dedham, Mass.) defeating their opponents 8-5. After dropping the No. 2 doubles match, the Hawks picked up a win from
Olivia Santoro (Cheshire, Conn.) and
Annette Carter (Bedford, N.H.) who won their match, 8-4 at the No. 3 spot.
Santoro then took her match at No. 6 singles 6-1, 6-0 before SUNY Oneonta took one back at No. 4 singles.
Gianna Ferraro (Westerly, R.I.) took the fourth point of the match fo the Hawks with a 2-6, 6-3, 10-3 win over Sophia Schutte, before Julia Holtermann won a point for the Red Dragons.
The clinching point came at h hands of
Izzy Pecora (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) who took her No. 5 singles match 7-5, 6-3 before Cahoon took her match at No. 3 singles.
Roger Williams (13-3, 6-1 CCC) will face Franciscan-Steubenville on Wednesday, Mar 14 at 8 am.
