NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Roger Williams University softball team dropped both games to non-conference foe Coast Guard, 2-1, and 4-0.
 
In game one, 
Raegen Germano (Old Tappan, N.J.) went 6.0 innings, allowing only two earned runs, and three strikeouts in the contest, with four hits.
 
Caroline Thomas (Dighton, Mass.) went 1-for-2 in the contest, with 
Taylor Howell (Sandwich, Mass.) and 
Emma MacLean (Newton, Mass.) also picking up hits in the contest.
 
Coast Guard picked up an early 1-0 lead in the first inning when Christine Carey hit a home run giving the Bears a 1-0 lead. In the top of the fourth, 
Nicolette Fraser (Swampscott, Mass.) came across to score after an error at first.  In the bottom of the fifth the Bears took the lead for good with a Mariah Dewey then hit a double bringing in the game-winning run.
 
In game two the Hawks saw five players pick up hits with MacLean, 
Jamie Wells (Castle Rock, Colo.), 
Kasey Ruo (Smithfield, R.I.), 
Kelsey Burr (Warwick, R.I.), and 
Alex Burdick (Jewett City, Conn.) each picked up a hit.
 
Coast Guard brought three runs in the first inning, before Dewey hit another home run in the fifth inning of the second game to take a 4-0 lead.
 
Roger Williams (4-8, 0-0 CCC) will face Johnson & Wales on Wednesday, Mar. 22 at 3:30 pm, before hosting Eastern Nazarene for a non-conference doubleheader at 2:30 pm on Friday, Mar. 24.
