BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams men's lacrosse team came out on top against Emerson College on Saturday afternoon on Bayside Field, 10-6.

The top three scorers for Roger Williams each put two goals in, Matt Halpin (Hanover, Mass.), Kevin Murphy (Ramsey, N.J.), and Brian Gazard (Ashland, Mass.). On the defensive side, Kyle Zirn (Chester, N.H.) had four ground balls and four caused turnovers, while Tyler Zanini (Hopkinton, Mass.) added five ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Scoring in the first quarter was started off by the Hawks as Thomas Kennedy (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.), assisted by Noah Ravas (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) put a ball in the net. The Hawks quickly scored again off of a shot by Gazard before the Lions scored a goal of their own. Emerson scored a second time, knotting things up before Gazard put a second shot in the net. Halpin put in a shot, assisted by AJ DaRin (Manlius, N.Y.) to put the Hawks up, 4-2. More shots were taken, but neither team was able to score again before the end of the period.

The Lions scored first in the second frame. Murphy, assisted by Jack Kester (Londonberry, N.H.), earned a goal for the Hawks. Roger Williams scored again before the end of the first half, the shot being put in by Pehrson Szuluk (Avon, Conn.).

Swan put a goal in for Emerson to start scoring in the third quarter. Halpin earned a goal for the Hawks before Swan scored again for the Lions. Swan went on to score a third time before the period ended, putting the score with the Hawks ahead 7-6 going into the fourth quarter.

Murphy, assisted by Gazard, scored on a man-up opportunity early in the fourth frame. Goals by DaRin and Ryan Vendetti (Farmington, Conn.) solidified the Hawks lead. Max Kimmel (Milford, Conn.) had three saves in the fourth quarter and 13 total saves.

"Good to get the result. For the second game in a row we stepped up in the second half when we needed it. Special teams, rides, and clears were terrific today," said Head Coach Kevin Gould. "Back to the practice field to prepare for an excellent MIT team Wednesday afternoon."

Roger Williams (3-1, 0-0 CCC) will host MIT on Wednesday, March 8 at 4 pm on Bayside Field. They will then be on the road as they face Skidmore on Tuesday, March 14.
