BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University sailing team closed out the weekend of competition with a pair of victories at the Salt Pond Invite and Eagle Invite, hosted byu the University of Rhode Island and Boston College.
In the Salt Pond Invite, the Hawks combined for 39 points in the two division regatta. The Division A boat of
Will Bailey (Chatham, Mass.) and
Ruby Hope (Bellevue, Wash.) earned 20 points, finishing five points behind the first-place team from University of Rhode Island.
Ethan Burt (Hingham, Mass.) and
Peter Cotoia (South Yarmouth, Mass.) finished second in Division B with 19 points, one behind the team from the University of Vermont.
At the Eagle Invite, the Hawks swept all three divisions at the regatta, combining for 145 total points, leading second place Boston College by 50, with the Eagles coming in with 195 points. The Hawks top team of
Lucy Meagher (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and
Reid Nelson led the way with 35 points, while
Drew Mastovsky (Marion, Mass.) and
Frankie Sparrow earned 40 from the second boat for the Hawks.
Luke Hosek (Chicago, Ill.) and
Dominique Spinola (Dartmouth, Mass.) added 70 point in the third boat for Roger Williams.
The Hawks also took part in the Hood Trophy, closing the regatta in sixth with 231 points. In Division A,
Oliver Stokke (Santa Barbara, Calif.) and
Claire Buckley (Bridgewater, Conn.) led the Hawks to 83 points, tying Bowdoin for second place.
Jack Roman (Newport Beach, Calif.) and
Addyson Fisher (Charleston, S.C.) added 148 points in Division B.
Closing out the weekend of competition, the Hawks earned a sixth and eighth place finish at the Hoyt Trophy.
Roger Williams is scheduled to take part in four regattas next weekend beginning on Saturday, Sept. 30.
