BRISTOL, R.I. - The Roger Williams University men's basketball team faced the Endicott Gulls in a Commonwealth Coastal Conference (CCC) game at the Campus Recreation Center on Tuesday evening, 85-76.
Mac Annus (Belmont, Mass.) tallied 18 points, with four rebounds, and an assist with a steal on the defensive end.
John Ah Kao (Dumont, N.J.) added 16 poitns with three rebounds and three assists, while
Finn Miller (Stamford, Conn.) pulled down 11 rebounds on the defensive end of the floor to go with 12 points for a double-double.
Philip Sughrue (Winchester, Mass.) also scored in double figures with 10 points on a 4-of-7 shooting performance.
Endicott was led by Elijah Kinney who scored 17 points in 21 minutes of action, going 8-15 from the floor with 16 rebounds. Jalen Echevarria, Drew Brown and Jeff Hill all scored in double figures for the Gulls in their victory.
Endicott earned 11 second chance points to the Hawks 2, while the bench outscored Roger Williams 29-15.
The two teams played even until around 13:05 were remaining in the opening half, with the Gulls breaking out to a seven point lead with a pair of threes from Brown. Annus gained two points back for the Hawks with a shot from the field. The Hawks' defense recovered from several attacks, putting multiple shots in to close the gap.
Ty Higgins (New Marlborough, Mass.) tied the game with a three-pointer bringing the score to 22-22. Endicott retaliated with a shot from the field but Roger Williams'
Devin Johnson (Ridgewood, N.J.) tied it up again with a lay-up, 24-24.
The teams were unable to create much separation, with Endicott holding a one point advantage heading into the second half, 40-39.
Endicott took control midway through the second half, leading by five the Gulls went on an 11-0 run, taking a commanding 69-53 advantage. The Hawks were able to cut the deficit down to eight, but were unable to come any closer as Endicott closed out the win.
Roger Williams (11-11, 8-5 CCC) will face the University of New England at the Harold Alfond Forum, before hosting Wentworth for their final home tilt of the regular season on Wednesday, Feb. 14.
