BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University softball team defeated Suffolk in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on Sunday afternoon on Paolino Field, 5-2 in game one and 7-3 in game two, earning Head Coach
Joyce Maudie win number 600 as a head coach.

Raegen Germano going a complete game, 7.0 innings of work allowing a pair of runs off a home run with eight strikeouts, and a pair of walks.
Hailey Williams had two hits with a walk, while
Taylor Howell and
Kayleigh O'Connor led the way with a pair of RBIs in the win.
The Hawks opened the game up in the bottom of the first inning. With the bases loaded Howell put a double to left center field, bringing in
Ava Mendence and Williams to put the Hawks up 2-0.
Jaime Wells then hit a sacrifice fly to center to add another run, before O'Connor tripled, putting the Hawks up 4-0 after the first.
The game was scoreless until the fifth when Bella Rocha-Medeiros hit a ball over the left field wall on a two run shot to cut the Roger Williams lead in half. O'Connor answered in the bottom of the fifth inning for the Hawks with a sacrifice fly to right field bringing in
Kasey Ruo. The Hawks kept Suffolk at bay through the rest of the game earning the win.
In game two, Roger Williams turned to
Keira Quadros for a complete game 7.0 innings, with a pair of strikeouts earning the victory. O'Connor had three hits with an RBI and
Cece Baptista had a pair of hits, including a two-run homerun in the game.
After Suffolk took a 2-0 lead in the second inning, the Hawks trailed until the fifth, when Baptista hit a two run shot to right center field. O'Connor kept the inning moving with a double to left giving the Hawks a 3-2 lead before
Shannon Starratt singled and Howell hit a double to take a 5-2 advantage.
Suffolk added a home run in the top of the sixth but the Hawks responded by tacking on two more runs in the bottom of the inning to close out the sweep.
Roger Williams (14-14, 4-6 CCC) closed will host Salve Regina on Wednesday, Apr. 24 at 3:00 pm for a doubleheader. They will then return to CCC action on Saturday, Apr. 27 at 12:00 pm at Curry, before facing Gordon in a rescheduled contest on Sunday, Apr. 28.
