Roger Williams Men's Soccer Grabs Win Number One in Season Opener
 
BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams men's soccer team begin their season 1-0 after a convincing 3-0 win at Clark University.
 
After a start that saw Roger Williams dominate possession of the ball, the action began around the 34th minute mark, when senior captain, Jack Wildermann (Madison, Conn.), found Tommy Bowen (Manchester, Mass.), who netted the first goal of the season for the Hawks, giving them a 1-0 lead. The Hawks went on to fire off nine shots, six of which were on goal, in the first half to Clark's two shots, helping the boys build momentum heading into the second half.
 
The second half began the same way the first ended, more shots on goal. In the second half, at the 63rd minute mark, Liam Blaisdell (Plymouth, Mass.) found senior captain John Fogarty (Scituate, Mass.), who expanded the Hawks lead to 2-0. The men went on to dominate possession for the remainder of the half, as Brandon Rodriguez (Norwalk, Conn.) dropped in the dagger at the 71st minute mark on a feed from Tommy Bowen, to put Clark out of reach.
 
The Hawks (1-0) will travel back home tomorrow, Saturday, August 31, to take on Emerson at Bayside Field at 1:00 PM and finish off their opening week. Next week they will stay close to home as they travel to Rhode Island College, followed by a home tilt against rival Salve Regina over the weekend.
