Box Score BEVERLY, Mass. - The Roger Williams University Field Hockey team fell to Endicott College, 2-1, in a Conference of New England (CNE) matchup on Saturday afternoon in Beverly.
The Gulls outshot the Hawks 18-13, with nine going on target to the Hawks' seven. The Gulls also had 16 penalty corners to Roger's eight. Endicott's Faith Minickene made five saves on the day for the win. In goal for the Hawks, Hannah Brazil (Sandwich, Mass.) tallied seven saves.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Gulls struck first in the second, scoring in the 17th minute as Lily Johnson sent a ball to Tori Swanson, putting Endicott up 1-0. The Hawks responded immediately as Anna Kruggel (Scituate, Mass.) found Chelsea King (Albany, N.Y.) in the 19th minute to tie it up, 1-1.
After the halftime break, Endicott would strike again with two minutes left in the third quarter, this time with Maddy Dengley sending a cross to Reagan Hicks, taking a 2-1 lead.
Despite a pair of corners and a shot in the fourth quarter, the Hawks could not respond.
Roger Williams (11-5, 5-1 CNE) will host Keene State on Thursday, Oct. 23 and then return to CNE play against Western New England on Saturday, Oct. 25. Endicott (15-1, 6-0 CNE) is on the road for the next few, traveling to Simmons on Wednesday, Oct. 22 and then to Johnson & Wales on Saturday, Oct. 25.
