Men’s Soccer: Hawks Resume Suspended Game against Clark, Win 2-0

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Men's Soccer team collected a hard-fought win over Clark University this weekend. The Hawks and Cougars resumed the contest on Monday afternoon after play was suspended after the first half, due to inclement weather. The Hawks held a 1-0 lead after the opening 45:00 of play.

The lone goal at the point of suspension was scored by Tyler Jastrab (Townsend, Mass.)who scored in the 12th minute of play, after a pass from Dylan Robbins (Johnston, R.I.) at his feet, and then fired into the back of the net past Diego Marin, who made four saves before the game was suspended.

The Hawks extended their lead to 2-0 within the first 15 minutes of the second half, when Robbins shot and scored, assisted by Liam Blaisdell (Plymouth, Mass.) and Liam Farrell (Watertown, Conn.). Roger Williams continued to add pressure, recording six shots in the second half to Clark's three.

Eliot Panaccione (Pepperell, Mass.) recorded the shutout and tallied four saves on the day. Clark's keeper Diego Marino recorded seven saves total. The game was physical, as Clark were called for 13 fouls total and RWU called for nine. One yellow card was given to a Clark player.

Roger Williams (8-0-4, 3-0-1 CNE) will host Suffolk on Saturday, Oct. 11 before hitting the road for Curry on Tuesday, Oct. 14. Clark (3-6-1, 0-2-1 NEWMAC) will travel to Salem State on Wednesday, Oct. 8 and then to WPI on Saturday, Oct. 11.
