BEVERLY, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Women's Tennis team saw four individuals earn All-Conference Singles honors and all three doubles pairings named to the All-Conference doubles teams, as announced by the Conference of New England (CNE) office.
The awards were voted on by coaches based on regular-season records.
Valentina Abarca (Riobamba, Ecuador) was honored on the All-Conference Second Team Singles with a 7-6 record on the season, playing all 13 of her matches at No. 1 singles. Also earning Second Team honors was Izzy Pecora (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.), who posted an 11-3 record with a 6-3 record in conference play.
On the Third Team, first-year Meghan Bache (Westbrook, Conn.) and Adriana Palmieri (Southington, Conn.) earned the honors in singles play. Bache was 13-2 on the season, finishing CNE play with an 8-2 record. The Hawks' No. 4 singles player earned an 11-2 record at the No. 4 spot while also picking up wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles. Rounding out singles honors was Palmieri, who tallied a perfect 15-0 record throughout the fall, playing primarily at the No. 5 spot.
The Hawks also saw all three doubles pairings land on the All-Conference Third Team Doubles squad. Abarca and Bache combined for a 9-5 record at the top doubles spot, earning a 6-3 record in CNE action on the year. At the No. 2 doubles pairing was Ella Mancini (Middlebury, Conn.) and Pecora who tallied a 11-3 record in regular season action, while going 7-2 on the season in conference matches. The final doubles pairing of Gabrielle Petroniro (Wolcott, Conn.) and Palmieri who finished with a 10-0 record through the regular season in doubles play.
Also earning CNE recognition was Annette Carter (Bedford, N.H.) who was named to the CNE Community Service Team.
Roger Williams (13-3, 8-2 CNE) finished the season in the CNE Tournament First Round.
