BEVERLY, Mass. – The No. 2 Roger Williams University Field Hockey team traveled to Beverly on Saturday to face off against No. 1 Endicott in the Conference of New England (CNE) Championship game. The Hawks drew the Gulls in regulation 1-1 and in the end lost to the Gulls in overtime.

Endicott outshot Roger Williams 22-17, with the Gulls putting 11 on goal to the Hawks' five. However, the Hawks held the edge on penalty corners, 12-10. Hannah Brazil (Sandwich, Mass.) played the entire game in net for the Hawks with nine saves on the day.

The first period was quiet, with Endicott only taking three shots and RWU only taking one. The Hawks struck first in the second period, as Libby Corsetti (Arlington, Mass.) found the back of the net on her own in the 26th minute of play. The Gulls responded quickly as Tori Swanson scored in the 28th minute as sent the teams into halftime levelled at 1-1.

The Hawks held the advantage in the third period, having four corners and taking six shots, while the Gulls tallied one corner and two shots. Endicott controlled the pace of play in the fourth period, but despite multiple chances from both teams they ended regulation tied 1-1.

In overtime, the Hawks' Maddy Monahan (Bristol, N.H.) took a quick shot that was blocked, before the Gulls took possession. After a corner and a shot for Endicott, Sabrina Brunet would score to secure the championship title for the Gulls, 2-1.
